Well I happen to know that Larry Ellison will not invest money into *any* 
project or technology (including the flagship Oracle DB itself) if he 
doesn't think it's going to make him money.  He is a businessman after all.

So, I suspect he sees a way to make money out of JavaFX, at least in the 
longer term.  And I think Oracle makes quite a bit of cash from JavaFX and 
Java in general (currently) in embedded environments where I believe the 
hardware vendors have to sign some license with Oracle.

Given that JavaFX will be the only Java UI on these devices, there may well 
be life In JavaFX yet...
