I'm not sure why you say that.  It's primarily a matter of edge detection
which video games have mastered.  Don't hit the walls in any maze or Quake
like game.  Of course, the walls are the roadlines and other vehicles,
computer vision processing is needed to identify the roadlines and vehicles
in real-time.  Modern video cards have the ability to do physics  
computations.
