So, you're teaching him intolerance of people who are
different from him in arbitrary and trivial ways.

That's like a "pot calling the kettle black"...

How is teaching nationalism to a child any different
 from teaching him racism or anti-semitism?

Are you teaching him Ukrainians or Georgians are
bad too, but Russians aren't?  Are you teaching
him Christians or Jews are good but atheists
are bad too?  Or, perhaps, you're teaching him
the opposite of those?

These are ways to justify discrimination against
and mistreatment of a large group of other people.
If you teach your son Americans are bad, it only
takes acceptance of a slight variation of that
belief for him to embrace other forms of intolerance
such as racism, eugenics, slavery, anti-semitism, etc.
