If you need a serial port cable I can recommend a vendor on eBay.  They 
are the ones who said they were selling a Prolific based cable which 
turned out to have a Chinese chip in it.  But this Chinese chip works 
just fine and has drives for Windows up through 8.  The seller said they 
were just reporting the specs as given to them by the maker, lol.  I 
wouldn't pay the return shipping, so they gave me a refund and let me 
keep the cables.  I would work with them again and even recommend them 
as long as you are happy with the Chinese serial cable.  I think it was 
about $6.  The chip is identified as CH340 by wch-ic.com and the vendor 
is ehkseller.  It is shipped from the US so is faster delivery for us, 
I'm not sure where you are, I would expect Germany.  Not sure how fast 
the delivery will be for you.

I just looked at their recent listing and they don't claim it is the HXD 
chip, but they use the CH340 number but with the name Prolific still, 
lol!  I guess they are banking on the fact that it works so not many 
will complain.
