Well, I actually don't want a language similar to C You might like Go (www.golang.org). It's about halfway between C and a scripting language in terms of "level", so not suited for tiny embedded stuff, but has nothing like the clunkiness of Java, and you can feel the bits in your fingers when you need to, like C. I've been doing some stuff with it so thought I'd mention it. It might be a nice alternative platform for net2o.
