The 4Ps come from business school courses. There is also the
8Ps, a larger list which includes the 4Ps. In addition to the 4Ps and
8Ps, there are the 6Ms, 5Ms, 4Ss, 4Ss, 3Ks, and two 5Cs. Some of
these come from production management systems. The Ps have to do with
product. The Cs have to do with customers. The Ms have to do with
marketing or manufacturing. The Ss have to do with the suppliers or
Japanese workplace organization, especially a precursor to modern JIT
manufacturing. The Toyota production system also came up with the
seven types of waste (not listed).

5Cs - company, customers, competitors, collaborators, climate
5Cs - customers, cash flow, credit, credibility, capital
4Ps - place, price, product, promotion
8Ps - product, price, place, promotion, people, process, physical
evidence, publicity 6Ms - mission, market, message, money, method,
monitoring 5Ms - machine, method, material, manpower, measurement
4Ss - surroundings, suppliers, systems, skills
5Ss - (workplace organization) - seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu,
shitsuke - sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain
3Ks - (Toyota production) - kaizen, kanban, kaikaku - continuous
improvement, radical change, billboard scheduling

There are other acronyms out there for various business concepts. I'll
let you figure out what the business concept is by reading them. You
can probably guess as to all of them except maybe the last one.

SWAN - smart, works, ambitious, nice
PDCA - plan, do, check, adjust
SWOT - strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats
PEST - political, economic, social, technological
DMAIC - define, measure, analyze, improve, control
DMADV - define, measure, analyze, design, verify
VRIO - variable, rare, imitable, organization
