#143087 — comp.lang.c, USENET and the new fascist attitude

Fromjacobnavia <jacob@jacob.remcomp.fr>

Subjectcomp.lang.c, USENET and the new fascist attitude
Message-ID<q929mb$ntc$1@dont-email.me>
USENET was the first social network. It started at the very beginning of
the internet. This group, comp.lang.c was among the first groups to be
created.

And it has followed the common evolution of the internet and the social
networks: from a tool to discuss and create content to a tool for
showing the worst impulses in each of its participants. With the excuse
of "absolute freedom of expression", you can say anything, do anything.

It is no longer important if you contribute something useful to the
community. It is much more important to establish a public image, to
show yourself, without any consideration for the others.

Bringing up the worst in you shows you as someone who "speaks the truth"
or "has no taboos", or "someone that dares to say what he is thinking
about".

In most participants this is just a way of creating polemic, bullying,
or other nasty behaviors but mostly benign.

In others (chad for instance) this shows as a compulsive obsession to
show his genitals, or for "fir" to show how clever and fast programmer
you are, or "hodgin" in preaching nonsense and posing as an old
fashioned "jehova witness".

All of this is utterly banal, but at the same time shows a tendence of
the online social media, a tendence that is far stronger in other media
like the new phone networks, where fake news can lead to real murders.

I watched a film about this, fake news about suspect individuals led to
the killing of two innocent people in Mexico, to several deaths in
India, and here in Paris, members of the gypsy community were attacked
and wounded because of the fake news about them kindapping children and
selling their organs.

What is incredible is that this "fake news" goes backward to the middle
ages, where innoncent people (jews and gypsies) were killed because they
were accused of stealing children for thir blood. Nothing ever changes
in the lowest part of the human mind, but this mentality combined with
the tools of an electronically connected network makes for an explosive
mixture.

And of course, this tendencies can be used by the powerful for their own
purposes of manipulation. Trump's election, and more recently the
Bolsonaro election in Brazil shows where this fascist attitude leads to.

Obviously the reasons for this aren't in the social media itself, nor in
the internet, even if the anonymity of the exchanges furthers the lack
of any restraint. The resons are in the situation of our sociaties as a
whole, where the mass of people in our "democracies" sees that their
situation worsens every day and yearns for the "make america great
again" or make the UK great again" (brexiteers) or Bolsonaro with his
masculine and violent narrative that promises to restore order from the
gays and feminists that have weakened the male model...

That is why the verbal violence of chad was so difficult to endure (for
me). It is the fascist mysogine attitude that is so representative of
the current wave of "politically incorrect" that is boiling over in all
countries.

In his messages, his sex is predominant and women appear only as:

<quote>
I managed to do my female coworker so hard that she was walking with a
limp the next day.
<end quote>

Message posted April 13, 16:41

It is precisely this male violence that is the best representation of
the state of our societies today. It is precisely the absence of women
in this forums that makes for an easy and fertile soil for the "male
display" attitude of this person.

And (of course) thompson will probably say that this message is off
topic without taking any sides of course, he never does.

I do take sides, my rejection of this male violence, my rejection of
this "show off" attitude is my side.

I had decided that the best thing to do with Chad's postings was to
ignore them.
But I agree with you. This sort of thing is unacceptable, particularly
on a technical newsgroup which is supposed to cater mainly to professionals.

Why do you say that? Show me one cite that says that.

As is well know, there is no charter for CLC.

Therefore, any claim that "CLC is for <X>" is bogus.

I think it is reasonable to say that c.l.c. is for discussing C. The
clue is in the name, if not an official charter.

But it is not "mainly for professionals" - it is for anyone interested
in C, whether they are professionals, hobby programmers, students, or
whatever.

However, I think most of us agree that it is not the place for
discussing Amine's "algorithms", Chad's nether regions, Rick's cult, or
Fir's - well, whatever it is Fir tries to say. I can rarely make any
sense of it.

I am not adverse to the occasional off-topic thread (though some other
people are - I speak only for myself). But it has to be of interest to
several people in the group to be appropriate, it has to be
/occasional/, and it has to be /different/. When Rick first made his
religious posts, some sparked interesting discussions. But that time
has long past - anyone interested in them has read them, and endless
repetition is of no benefit to anyone. And it is never okay with
misogynist or bigoted posts. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself it
you'd be happy to let your mother moderate your posts - if not, don't
make that post.

lol im rather showin how lazy and uncaring i am (also being slow but also being able to make some ideas of good new coding too)

well, the thing is i like to discuss things on some level or more compact logic and im easily aggreviated by some bulshit and bloat (i know it may be my fault).. i may be far from ideal in amny cases but many 'ideas' i talk on are very big quality

as i said i would also have thsi group to have more spirit focused on core things to make/create something substantional impressive instead of big distraction of non important blablings... i dont think its totally egoistic, anyone could just join in and creata something good on his side...

fact is also groupo is degraded by clear imbeciles and the spirit the feeling of some technical intelligence is partially wasted by this idiot (i made what i could to try to repell thise heavy idiots - instead of some others who legitimize them)

as to politics i recently wrote a post on it

all that people who show aggresive attitude to whole groups (like in polands to say judges, teachers, refugees, jews, bicycle users, lgbt and so on) are simply primitive knuckleheads (who if acting more real should get and get imprisoned and that should cold them a bit) and i had noting common with those boneheads im fully agains em if you need to know

Jacob, how many people here appreciate my posts? How many admire
me and my work and efforts in creating a language like CAlive (a
software program written remembering fully the Lord throughout)?
Or how many regard me even in a generally positive way? Some do.
I receive emails from people who are moved by my posts. Most don't

Please understand: I don't post about Christ to become popular.
I post because we each have sin and we need to be forgiven for our
sin to have the ability to enter into eternity alive and not be
judged.

I teach all the people in my life these things (not just here on
Usenet), which includes the areas to which I have interest (which
is also here on Usenet in the areas you see me post in C/C++/hardware
architecture).

-----
Have you ever investigated Christianity?
Why do you dismiss it with such hatred?
Has someone in the church hurt you? If so, know that's not Jesus.

Christianity is about:

==> (1) Forgiveness of sin and
==> (2) the salvation of our eternal souls.

You're going to die at some point, Jacob. It's important.

If it weren't, I wouldn't post about it.
Do you see me posting about politics?
Or about currency fluctuations?

I post on comp.lang.c and comp.lang.c++ about C/C++ related
things, and about my C/C++ related CAlive language, and also
about Jesus Christ, sin, and salvation from sin. I do so because
I care about you and the others here, and I want to see you all
forgiven for your sin and in Heaven thriving after you leave
this world.

keith thompson used to be most funny troller once ago - used to 'rant', plonking people in public, agitating and so on... he combined bluntnes being terribly overpuffed and weak intelligence
with a pose of chief troller.. hovever it was obviously less harmfull than medical idiots, esp medical idiot godgin which is biggest problem now

to resolve problem of medical idiot hodgin there is need a strictly treating this idiot as spammer it is NOBODY should answer to post of that medical idiot and thats all (it used to be good to answer but not in a way of legitimized this moron but to make some defence, but that was enough done i think, and this way of
none half-troll like thomasson, brown or bartc or others should not feed that stupid idiot)

if that would be done hiodgin troll would cease with time but simply anybody needs to conform to that (in google groups it is also an option to mark a post of spam and it then not harms the eye)

besides so to say ANYBODY (or nearly) has some dose of qualities of troller - it is becouse people hae stupid opinions (and stupid opinion make automativally a troller i guess).. people also like sensations/scandals and it ends this way nobody want to coding.. also people dwelwe in distractions (which is maybe not trolling but makes this group average)

though besides this trolling qualities groups used to have some advantage that
if someone starts some interesting coding matter it brings original coding interest
and this oldskool mode should be used more... i used to think this not works well here as people are too old here, but there is still an option

Up till this point it looked like your intentions are good, but ...

Sure.

Here are the subjects of the last threads that YOU started:

1:
What is AI? What is not AI?

2:
As the Web Turns 30, Its Inventor Explains 3 Ways It Went Wrong—and How
to Fix It

3:
Is genetic modification a kind of food poisoning?

You have participated to all spamming threads started by hodgin, but
never did you actively participate in a technical discussion about C.

You do not know how to program in C either.

I only respond on technical matters.

Or when someone mentions my name in an insulting manner.

I think the only way you'd be happy is for everyone to stop posting
here. Except you.

Because everything else is apparently a moron, an imbecile, a cow,
stupid, a blabber, a troll, or just posts boring stuff of no interest to
you:

 >> lol, (and yawn)

 > yawning becouse that answer was not interesting - and sorta stupid to

I suggest trying this new hypermodular-c group which has no annoying
posts at all.
