The clue is in the name, if not an official charter. But it is not "mainly for professionals" - it is for anyone interested in C, whether they are professionals, hobby programmers, students, or whatever. However, I think most of us agree that it is not the place for discussing Amine's "algorithms", Chad's nether regions, Rick's cult, or Fir's - well, whatever it is Fir tries to say. I can rarely make any sense of it. I am not adverse to the occasional off-topic thread (though some other people are - I speak only for myself). But it has to be of interest to several people in the group to be appropriate, it has to be /occasional/, and it has to be /different/. When Rick first made his religious posts, some sparked interesting discussions. But that time has long past - anyone interested in them has read them, and endless repetition is of no benefit to anyone. And it is never okay with misogynist or bigoted posts. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself it you'd be happy to let your mother moderate your posts - if not, don't make that post.
