Certain syntactic forms play special roles in C.  For example you can't
write (expr, x) = y; because the comma form is not a lvalue.  Similarly,
only 0 is a recognised null pointer constant.

No matter how many more forms C were to decide to permit, some cases
would still remain as "surprises".  Usually, if f() returns y, writing
x=f(); is the same as x=y; (barring the side-effects) but there is no
way a compiler will be able to check the the int returned by f is in
fact zero.
