Only a very forgetful programmer is unlikely to do the "type punning" from int32_t to itself. > The code fix, however, is to make this array int64_t. You could consider intptr_t to make the purpose clear. It is likely to be large enough for whatever actual integer values get put there and it will save some space where pointers are 32 bits. But I would re-write that part and make the clientData an array of a union type that includes the various kinds of data that get put there. It will make the code much less cryptic. IOW, my inclination would be to make the code portable rather than convert it to 64-bits. -- Ben.
