I agree with the last two points (which I have labelled [2] and [3]).

The first part, [1], may be missing the point - the idea is to mark the 
load request so that when it is sent out to the L2 or further out bits 
of the memory subsystem whatever part of the memory subsystem provides 
the data does the indirection.  Thereby eliminated two "bus crossings".
