I think this was an issue in the old days when there was more users in the usergroups, nowadays you just setup a site claiming to give out a free ipad and then post the link on facebook and you collect a lot of emails. Sure spamfilters on mail servers have become better and spf/dkim/dmarc has helped to filer out some sources too. I tend to create a new email address when I join something, so that I know if spam sent to me is due of a site been hacked or they sell email addresses, when you get a spam to a such email, you just disable it and stop using the offending site. > I can't remember what year, but there was one deluge, I think it was the > fall, where if I didn't clear out my inbox every few hours, it would be > swamped. Could be the time when mailserver admins became aware of the importance to filter away spam to keep customers. Still 70% of all mail is considered to be spam, how much you get depends on your mail service provider and how many stupid online lotteries where you give away your email to win an ipad you entered. :P -- //Aho
