that's the rub: "once i'd remembered it". many customers had never
heard of the Twitter link in the first place. myself, i first heard
of it from your post here on this thread, Steve -- and even then it
was unusable until somebody else posted the mobile version. (later,
somebody else said to leave out the "/#!" that was in the middle of
the link you gave.)
if the Twitter link is given on the support pages of Purley Hosting's
website, well, that's no use when the site is down.
an automated email has just arrived here from Purley with the annual
invoice attached.
i wrote back (cross but polite) saying these are unacceptable in their
present form; would they please add a line to their templates for
invoice and email so that customers will have these links to hand so
that this frustration does not arise again.
it seems reasonable enough that they should take any opportunity to
communicate the telephone number for status message and, OK, the link
to Twitter, but (since many of their customers use Netsurf), the
javascript-free version.
