FreeBSD 6.1 was released in 2003. 4914 days of uptime is 13 years. While no one here is likely to believe it anyway, I have had servers that would have run for years except I don't control the power and for a long time we had an annual power shutdown here at the University limiting uptime to no more than 364 days. I do not remember the last time I had an OS related failure. Not on Unix, not on Windows and, of course, not on VMS. I have had a feew hardware related failures, which would kill a VMS system equally well.
