Yes. And that's a reasonable step.

However, I would prefer not t o have to carry both devices.  I tend to 
want the smaller device(s) when I am doing something like hiking or 
running, when I really don't want to have a bigger device jostling in my 
backpack.

Now, in the places I hike (and live :-( ) cell phone connectivity is 
sporadic, so I might not need such a device to be a "phone" that is 
always connected.  Perhaps it would be okay to synchronize when back on 
my PAN with my bigger devices.  But I know that I don't want to have to 
plug it in to synch. (I don't even want to have to plug it in to charge 
up.  I'd love it if energy scavenging could power the iPod shuffle I 
listen to podcasts on.)
