"Completely obsolete"? A computer => computer large file copying
process via WiFi N results in a tremendous throughput of 3..5MiB/s.
During my renovation I put cat 5e FTP cables to each of the rooms
and enjoy 115MiB/s point to point (not aggregated, as in case of 
wireless devices) bandwidth... WiFi is a joke, a low-brow one...
