WE had a small amount of bandwidth in the AM band, about 1 megahertz.
Stations couldn't be that close together, yet we had thousands of them.
Terje pointed out that via various mechanisms, spectrum can be shared by
many users geographically dispersed. In addition there is spectrum at
even higher frequencies that could be used.

Is bandwidth unlimited? No, not really. But it is abundant, and can be
made more abundant. In the future we will not dedicate hundreds of
Megahertz to TV broadcasting when the same programming can be
transmitted over a data network using less bandwidth.

At the moment apple sells devices, not bandwidth. Probably eventually
smart phones will get smart enough and ubiquitous enough that sales will
slow or level off, like they have in the PC market.
