It's not even C code.  As usual with that poster, he's trying to
make some kind of grand point, but probably has no idea why it
lands so flat with others.

a) The plural vs singular thing I already mentioned.
b) It apparently calls `.write` on whatever `out` is.  So it's
   not just doing some passive transformation, but actually
   triggers some kind of side-effect.
c) The name is vague; what does "transform" do?  What is the
   contract it exposes?  What other constraints is it subject
   to?
d) Why is transformation coupled with writing to the output?

Yeah, maybe.  But given the track record of the poster, I don't
feel that giving the benefit of the doubt is really warranted.

I also don't really want to waste any more time on it, or him.
