Maintained, yes. Upgrading, no -- see preceding followup to David Brown.

Yup, sounds/looks/feels like that's precisely what happened.

Still needs to work, but fixing that kind of problem, where
that piece of code is never even executed (unless that module is
compiled by itself with -DTESTDRIVE) not going to happen.
