For them the lack of four internal drive bays is a non-issue. I'd guess that nearly all video professionals use xsan or something to connect to a server for storage. Someone storing their video locally is probably more of a hobbyist, or at least a solo professional. >> My guess is that Apple will not be bringing back the multiple drive >> bays of the cheese grater era. Again, it's a non-issue. I have 30TB internally on my Synology, but it would not be fast enough to do live video editing on it. However, a USB3 connected 1TB SSD is plenty fast enough, and it syncs silently and automatically to the Synology. Not that I do video editing, but if i did this setup would be perfect for it. >> I don't really need high CPU/GPU performance, but I would like a >> headless desktop model that allows replacement of at least the >> internal drive. > Same here; and while I could appreciate the option, I don't really need > four drive bays. The advantage to drive bays is I don't have to find 4 more power outlets for 4 drives. Most of my purchases in the last few years have been about eliminating power plugs (8 bay Synology, JBOD cases, etc). -- C-3PO: We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life.
