Linus Torvalds, I am quite sure, had a Mac notebook and ran Linux on it. I,
personally, do not consider him to be out of his mind.

Comes down to you know your needs and resources for buying tools -- and
considering those things you opt to buy Macs (in addition to computers from
other makers). Nothing wrong with that. You also do not like macOS... and
that is fine, too. 

To each their own.
