Just to let you know about the GREATNESS of Apple:

My wife's 27" iMac was purchased Christmas 2012. About three months ago, she
began to have issues with the screen going dark. So we took it in to the
Apple Store in nearby Highland Village. They kept it for 10 days and simply
could not reproduce the problem and the diagnostic software told them zero.

So, we went and got it.

After a few days, the problem started occurring again. We called Apple, who
suggested that we take it to an older Apple store in the Galleria. So, we
drop it off and after a couple of days, they said that they have narrowed it
down to two possibilities:

1. Video Card - $235

2. Logic Board - $525

So we gave them the go-ahead and they changed out the video card. They
watched for a day or two and determined that the card made no difference.
So, the more expensive logic board was swapped out.

Nothing. They kept and tested it for about ten more days.

So, we get a call from Apple:

"We cannot figure out what exactly is causing your screen issues, sorry to
inform you."

"Since we cannot fix your iMac, we have decided to replace it with a NEW
unit. Hope that is OK with you?!?"

Yep! They replaced it with a brand new factory sealed unit - not a refurb or
demo computer. It was the latest 2013 model iMac 27" that was time stamped
as being manufactured in July.

I REALLY don't think that Alan needs to worry about exceptionalism...
