How do I turn sound on in Quicktime?

I downloaded and installed the QuicktimeMPEG2 plugin.  When I opened a 
movie to edit in MPEG Streamclip I had sound.  When I opened the same 
movie in Quicktime I didn't.  I opened another movie where I know I have 
sound and I didn't have it in Quicktime although it worked fine in MPEG 
Streamclip.  I could not find a volume control for Quicktime.
