You do not say what version of Photoshop you have installed. 15 years
ago none of the Creative Suite editions of PS were available. CS(1) was
released in 2003.

No. If you want to know what Photoshop can do nowadays go to the Adobe
site and look for yourself.

What you should be asking is, "Do I need the full capability of
Photoshop, or will an alternative graphic editor be more suitable for
me?"

I use a Lightroom + Photoshop workflow, but that might not be the best
choice for you, there is a trial available, and it is the most capable
of what is available. If you want to go down that road the $9.99/month
Creative Cloud subscription is a better value than you might imagine.

If you don't want to go that route consider the following options for OSX:

1:	Standalone Lightroom 6, a powerful asset management tool and editor,
but not suitable for compositing or text work.

2:	Pixelmator, for $30 one of the best full featured graphics/image
editors for the Mac user.
<http://www.pixelmator.com/mac/>

3:	Affinity Photo, ($50) another very good and powerful photo editor
for the Mac user. It seems to have a slightly steeper learning curve
than Pixelmator.

4:	Photoshop Elements, (can be found for $65-$90) I believe that for
the Mac user Pixelmator or Affinity Photo might be a better choice,
unless you are familiar with a PS type workflow and/or you use third
party plugins compatible with PSE.
