You do not say what version of Photoshop you have installed. 15 years ago none of the Creative Suite editions of PS were available. CS(1) was released in 2003. > Would it give me an idea of what PS can > do nowadays? No. If you want to know what Photoshop can do nowadays go to the Adobe site and look for yourself. What you should be asking is, "Do I need the full capability of Photoshop, or will an alternative graphic editor be more suitable for me?" I use a Lightroom + Photoshop workflow, but that might not be the best choice for you, there is a trial available, and it is the most capable of what is available. If you want to go down that road the $9.99/month Creative Cloud subscription is a better value than you might imagine. If you don't want to go that route consider the following options for OSX: 1: Standalone Lightroom 6, a powerful asset management tool and editor, but not suitable for compositing or text work. 2: Pixelmator, for $30 one of the best full featured graphics/image editors for the Mac user. <http://www.pixelmator.com/mac/> 3: Affinity Photo, ($50) another very good and powerful photo editor for the Mac user. It seems to have a slightly steeper learning curve than Pixelmator. <https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/photo/> 4: Photoshop Elements, (can be found for $65-$90) I believe that for the Mac user Pixelmator or Affinity Photo might be a better choice, unless you are familiar with a PS type workflow and/or you use third party plugins compatible with PSE. -- Regards, Savageduck
