I understand. Fortunately that's "easy" stuff - a few entries in a few files (and for servers I always use static IPs). Not torture. The more GENERAL question here ... people make lots of VMs, do a lot of work with them, and may then wish them to be non-virtual for whatever reasons. Clear and functional methods for switching between worlds would seem to be in the "general interest". VM-Ware might want to prevent this, but VBox/KVM have no motive.
