Ever tried using e.g, Pascal to anaylyse a disk sector which mat be 512 
bytes of user data, or full of 8, 16 and 32 bit quantities of 
metadata....in Pascal?
You have to create union of every possible data arrangement it could 
ever be.
in C you take a pointer to byte, point it at the sector start address 
and use casting to suck off 8, 16 or 32 bits and used explicit 'add 1, 2 
ore 4 to the pointer to step to the next one...

Some languages are about making CompSci people feel safe, others are 
about powerful machine tools that will do almost anything once you 
understand them
