python 2.7 vs 2.5

My web server is using python 2.5.

My cgi file is trying to open a shelve.

I xxx out some of the path below. 

I am trying to find out if this 
error is caused because I am using python 2.7 to write 
the cgi file and my web server is using python 2.5.

I would appreciate a confirmation of this.
