On a tangential note, I think that the current practice of online artifact repositories (as championed by Maven) is going to cause a lot of Java projects to become practically unmaintable a few years down the path. (I have no confidence that everything that's currently available from the repository servers, wether local or central, is going to be available in five or ten years from now.
