If I had it to do over again I'd probably choose to "bond" with emacs rather than vi(m), because the odds of its being able to keep up, in this sense, do seem better. It's mildly interesting to speculate on why that's so -- is the user community larger, or more determined, or is there something about the tool itself? -- but only mildly. I find the interface of a typical IDE to be *WAY* too cluttered for my tastes. But then that's true of a lot of programs with graphical interfaces. Probably a YMMV thing. -- B. L.
