Yes, it's very hard for a person who doesn't know what the "older 
collection of books" you found actually *is* help you understand whether 
those books are still useful or not.

Absent that information, I think Steve's advice is 100% correct: get the 
news books you can.  Period.  I'm really uncertain what else I or anyone 
else could tell you.
