Go appears to be an attempt to turn C into 1980's era Pascal. If you want Pascal, use Pascal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_(programming_language) Go is another C-like language. That's why Hugh will never accept it... It's really not a "My language can beat up your language." issue as he claims. That's just one of his standard ruses. Go is one just more example of a language that is compiled to C, but this time by a C++ front end called gccgo... Odd! That irks Hugh too. I've really got to get around to making a list of all the languages that are compiled to C. That's probably about 30+ languages. One of most powerful features of both C and PL/1 is pointers. A programming language without pointers and pointer arithmetic is a bit like a eunuch. It's missing half the junk needed to get the full job done. Rod Pemberton
