Yes, we're thinking about very different programming models, indeed.
I'm not thinking in that seventies' "just poll it where you need it" style.
I don't want to check for key press at all, let alone track all places
where I have to do that in order to keep my programs responsive.
All I need to do, is raise exception and catch it. This is more
efficient both in programming time (even with following all those
asynchronous signal processing rules) and in run time. As another big
improvement this is less prone to mistakes when restoring values of all
relevant variables like "base" in examples in consideration.
