I don't see how to determine if the address is invalid without an awful
lot of overhead and hassle, remembering in some auxiliary structure
where all the valid pointers are.  The auxiliary structure would itself
have to be dynamically allocated since its required size can't be known
in advance.  I guess you could mark each allocated region with a magic
random number that the user program isn't allowed to inspect, so the
chance of the user data containing the same number by accident would be
very low.
