You might like Angstrom, http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/
or OpenWRT (www.openwrt.org) or something like that.  Lots of
small devices use them.  I use Angstrom at work and it's quite
comfortable despite being small.  Its package system is called
"opkg" and probably has most of the stuff you want.
