No, the point immediately above was that your understanding of the
Computer Browser service is mistaken, and you appeared to be trying to
disguise that by fudging the issue:

So pretty much exactly as I described, and in particular no mention of
any particular version of SaMBa.

At the time of my original post which first brought it up, the OP
himself had already mentioned enabling "NetBIOS over TCP/IP",
functionality which is supplied by the Computer Browser service which
therefore is why I mentioned it, and we did NOT know that problem PC's
Computer Browser service was running correctly until his own reply to me
made clear that it was. However, you posted your confusing and
misleading splurge well AFTER the OP had replied, so, filled as it was
with a fair amount of erroneous and a great deal of irrelevant detail,
your post was just unnecessarily confusing and misleading, and I doubt
it helped him at all.
