You didn't specify which you have (or even if you have one, or are asking about a potential later setup), so I picked: https://support.google.com/fiber/answer/11277663 which says: "The ‘super speed’ USB 3.0 port can be used to charge your devices." That says nothing about using the USB3 port for network storage. To just charge devices would only require the voltage lines, and no data lines. Their "manual" sucks. About as bad as what you get with smartphones. Er, wait, you don't get manuals with phones, or what you get are written for uber boobs that don't want to know how to use or configure the device. Note that none of the respondents, so far, have actually stated they are using the same "Google Fiber" device as you have, or plan to get. Not sure how they could since you didn't identify what you have. Paul also echoes my warning that just because the format of a port is USB does not mandate it has more than just voltage lines for charging, as Google mentions, or that the port is used for maintenance (e.g., firmware flash), or to perform diagnostics on returned units. If you don't yet have the device, call them to find out just what the USB port is used for. If they don't know, it's not a USB port for use with mass storage devices. I've seen other ONT (Optic Network Terminal) makers respond that the USB port is not for networked storage, but just for charging, or for maintenance or diagnostics.
