Thanks for clarifying where this stuff hit me out of the blue.
I don't really know how "app specific passwords" work, but they may kill it.

I never even heard of 'app specific passwords' until you just said it.
So I went a googling to see if K9 mail will support them and found this:

  with apps through app passwords. You just cannot use you regular

Of course, the very next post says that is wrong, and then the rest of the
discussion is bickering about what Google is doing given Google didn't say.

So, who knows.
Not me.

I saw your other response that K9 will work with 2FA which is good for some.
You and Carlos were correct that I will refuse any and all 2FA setups.

It may be time to look for a new default MUA on Android other than K9.
Luckily, Thunderbird will still work on Windows/Linux after May 30th.
