Shouldn't need any "preparation" for this (I mean, you're just testing
afterall).

1. Fire up installer
2. Blow away /dev/targetUSB (sdc maybe?), single partition '/'
3. install grub to /dev/targetUSB
4. Reboot machine, F8 for one-time-boot menu
5. Boot off new USB.

The ugliest part is if you used a USB for the installer, you MIGHT have
the pleasure of something being "wrong" now, in terms of the USB
addressing on the host.

Might be safest to use optical media, to avoid changing the USB bus
between install and boot...
