Indien liefert auch nur noch halb so viel Vakzin ins UK wie die Engländer dachten. Hier ein Leserbrief aus dem Guardian. Perfekt geschrieben: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2021/mar/18/uk-covid-coronavirus-live-news-updates-vaccine-supply?page=with:block-60530cdd8f083d3e63c4bd68#block-60530cdd8f083d3e63c4bd68 "Unfortunately, that the EU threatens to block vaccine exports to us was utterly predictable. And it could have been avoided. What few recognized was how much our vaccination programme depends on deliveries from the EU: 10 million in the last six weeks alone and it is reasonable to assume that there were millions of doses coming from them in January. It amounts to at least a third of the doses we administered, likely much more. Our government failed to acknowledge this dependency. Instead, they told us how much Brexit is vindicated by the success of their vaccination programme. On every occasion, they heightened tensions with the EU. And of course, they made sure no vaccines left the UK. We shouldn't be surprised that the EU starts playing by the same logic. The kept sticking to free trade but gained nothing other than ridicule, gloating and a frustrated populace. What did our government expect the EU to do? Our government was in a similarly dire situation not that long ago and they reacted with a "UK first" approach. The EU too have a population to protect. They too have to show they can deliver. That is politics and it must have been clear to our government. If they had chosen a more cooperative approach and allowed AZ to export some vaccines, we would still have gotten more from the EU than we would have given them. We would still be far ahead. And we would not be at risk of loosing a substantial amount of vaccines in the coming weeks."
