As I already noted, *every* point on the real number line represents a
real number. There are no gaps. More importantly, there is no "process"
being repeated. I think you are viewing this somewhat like the
following: if we start with some real (say 1.0), we split the line in
half at 0.5, leaving us with two gaps which need to be filled with 0.25
and 0.75 and so forth.

But that is simply not the case. The real number line refers to an
object which is already replete with points. While we can talk about
constructing it by some process, that is entirely unnecessary. When we
split 1.0 in half at 0.5, we now have a shorter segment which is
*already* completely filled will points, which has no gaps, and was
always that way.

But, even if your argument were legitimate (it isn't), your
'infinitesimal' wouldn't solve it. If you claim that 0.0[1] is the least
positive number, you are claiming that you have a point 0, followed by
another point, 0.0[1] which are separated by a distance of 0.0[1]. What
occupies that 0.0[1] length of line segment between zero and 0.0[1]? Is
that not a 'gap'?
