SimH will simulate a number of architectures, including the vax, and it is possible to get a hobbyist license for older versions of VMS which will run under SimH. This gives you an opportunity to try out an older version of the OS. It's kind of cool; the filesystem is integrated with a database in a way that you don't see in other operating systems today. But, you might want to hold out for the native version because it's going to have some additionally cool stuff for integration with a modern computing environment, which you won't see in older versions. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
