Of course they do. They calculate answers to "problems" that have been posed to them, but they do not create theories. > Second, I am curious. What justification do you > have for this remark? Did Newton, Kepler, > Copernicus need computers? Did Einstein, Bohr, > Heisenberg need computers? Please explain. Well, hell yes they did. What's your idea? They went to Dephi and got a reading to get their theories? It makes NO difference if one does calculations with a pencil (pen) and paper as did old timers or if one uses a machine to do the work. It's only a matter of speed and degree. > Please note, Physics majors have been taught programming > since at least the 1970's. so you are not suggesting a > new idea in the Physics curriculum, eh! Longer than that. Slide rules are computers too. Pen and paper is computing too. Computer "programming" is actually irrelevant to physics because you only need the results, you don't need to know how to program it yourself anymore than you need to know how to run a lathe if you want a cylindrical piece of aluminum. Do they have shop courses in physics curriculum? Ed, clearly you have obviously thought about none of this stuff. > Ed >
