Without a watch, how did you know who was at fault when you were late 
for school? I used to be late every day for a week, but I had the 
satisfaction of knowing I was right and their clock was half a minute 
ahead. I'd continue to be late until they corrected their clock.

Once I rode my motorcycle 48 hours east from Red Lodge in a blizzard. 
The third morning, I woke up in Iowa, but I couldn't remember where Iowa 
was. The sun came out, and I used my bubble octant to get my longitude. 
I found that I was south of Minnesota, and I knew where that was. I 
couldn't have done it without my $6 Timex.

Well, all right, I didn't have my bubble octant with me, but I had my 
Timex, and if I'd had my octant, I would have known where Iowa was.
