Yes. Re-read the past couple of posts if you still don't get it. And
if that doesn't help, then tough luck for you - you'll just have to live
with the situation without understanding it. Maybe you can accept that
smarter people than you, with more experience than you, have decided
that file extensions are part of file names and need to be given.

People have been using file extensions in *nix since its inception - but
the file extension is simply part of the file name. It is a convenience
- mainly a convenience to humans, but also a convenience to some
programs that can't reasonably determine file type information
automatically.

There is no "grudging" involved.

Why should I?

I type "make test", or "make burn", or "make release", if I want a
particular type of build - or just "make" for the most common build
using the target that /I/ pick as the default in the makefile.

There is absolutely no relation to file extensions here.

I am happy for useful conveniences.

Your irritation here is irrational and out of all normal proportion. It
is like working yourself into a frenzy because your new shirt has seven
buttons when all your old ones had six.

It is hard to help you get over your problems or cure your ignorance
when you blindly refuse to read posts, and insist on repeating the same
incorrect drivel.

What is stupid is bursting a blood vessel because you have to type two
characters of a file name - especially when you only need to do that in
the first place because you would rather irritate yourself with manual
builds than learn the basics of better tools.

I will leave you to your self-flagellation, until you decide you want to
learn something.
