Inactive status according to the Illinois Bar Association.  He's 
'retired', she's 'inactive'.  Both could reinstate their licenses if 
they took the required courses and paid the dues:

But he's a retired president and she's a retired first lady.  Don't need 
no law license to make a living when you're a retired president or a 
retired first lady.
