Emulating a Commodore VIC20 on a new Intel iMac is blazingly fast ... MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than the original VIC20 ever was. The emulation has to put in "slow down" code, otherwise the games would be unplayable). :-) But, yes, emulating Windoze 10 (just as an example, I'm not saying it actually needs to be emulated) even on a new Mac would be slower than running it under virtualisation on a slightly older Mac. Of course Virtualisation is slower than simply booting the Mac into Windoze 10 via Boot Camp.
