No, good code management puts related content in the same file, keeping
files of convenient size. Too big a source file and it is hard to find
what you are looking for. Too small source files, and you lose
modularity, pollute your global name space, and /also/ have trouble
finding what you are looking for.
With the right size of your files (where "right size" depends on many
factors), well-chosen function names, logical layout, and sensible file
names, it is usually fairly obvious if the function you want is in the
file you have open, or which file it is likely to be found in.
Obviously an IDE or a half-decent programmers' editor will find it for
you in a fraction of a second, but for small projects you should be able
to find your function definitions manually without too much trouble.
And using decent file management, source code versioning systems,
backups, etc., is what protects your code from bad crashes.
