(There's also of course the two-ends-of-a-wormhole model of time travel that uses a permanent, stationary-in-space installation, and by definition you can only go as far back as the moment that the system was first brought online. If nobody's built and activated one of those yet, there's no way they can get back in time to us.) -- wds
