Octal is for integers only - there is no support for octal format
floating point. So there is no need to treat "0123." in a different
manner than "123.".

If you are writing a tokeniser/parser, you need to know the rules of C's
grammar. It is neatly summarised in annex A in the standards - there is
no need for surprises.
If you are writing C, write:
double A[] = { 123.0, 123.0, 123.0, 123.0 };
Then the code makes sense.
Yes, octal literals (other than 0, of course) are an anachronism,
especially since the identifying prefix is just "0", and in most cases
they will be a typo - your compiler should accept them, but it would be
good to give a warning.
I think the legality of "123." as a floating point number is also a bad
idea, but whether intentional or unintentional it is allowed in C, so
your parser will have to accept it.
