This is true for what is concerned with the result.
 From the software design point of view, there is a difference in that 
structures allow to clearly group together data items that belong to the 
same conceptual set.
Obviously this is a help for the programmer (and code 
reviewers/maintainers), it has no impact on the resulting executable.

In the case of the D&D random access example, it was on the other hand 
required in order to ensure that the data items be contiguously stored 
in memory, and transferred via fread/fwrite.
